Could a wearable inspire me to buy a car?

I have just had an “Ooo I want that moment”. I am a mad car fanatic and from growing up with a dad who was an avid Jaguar fan I have always had an interest in the latest Jaguar car.

Following the dark Ford days of when a Jaguar was just a Mondeo in a party frock, I had lost a bit of my excitement round the latest Jaguars. However under Tata Motor ownership they have got their mojo back. I nearly get whiplash every time I see an F-type  ( the spiritual ancestor of the E-type) to be honest not many cars have done that in recent years, that wouldn’t involve me remortgaging my house.

So I have just seen an ad for the latest F-Pace. Jaguar trying to eat some of the 4×4 market. It wasn’t the usual things that would make me stop, engine performance, slick styling.. it was the activity band. Enabling you to get out and about; as the imaging for the car is of canoeing, swimming, climbing; without having to carry your car keys. That works for me. I hate going to the gym and leaving my car keys in the notoriously easy to break into gym lockers.

I am sure Jaguar are not the only premium brand of car doing this and they might not even be the first. I must admit it is the first time I have seen a wearable potentially affecting my buying decision of another product. Interested to see what other products I will be lured into buying in the future based on wearables.
